Mr. Takaba (高場先生) is the gym teacher at the school Kaneda and his friends attend. He appears both in the beginning of the anime and manga, but is only referred to by name in the manga. He is most well-known for his corporal punishment, doling out "discipline" by punching students in the face. He is referred to disparagingly among students by the nickname Jaws (アゴ), in reference to the size of his chin.
