Shotaro Kaneda's bike is a futuristic, high-tech motorcycle and an iconic feature of the series. As the group's leader, Kaneda is entitled to have the most technologically and aesthetically-advanced bike.
It is a high-performance, red, racing bike of unspecified make and model (though a badge on it closely resembling that of the BMW logo is visible on its left hand side in the movie). The logo could be a reference, saying that the new BMW models of motorcycle in the future (around the year 2019) will look like that in the movie Akria.
It bears the logos of Canon Inc., the Citizen Watch Co., Shoei Co. and Arai, as well as the roundel for the U.S. Air Force. It has a reverse function, as well as a "ceramic, double-rotor, two-wheel disk drive."
The bike is also quoted as making "200 Horsepower" and having an "Electronically controlled Anti-Lock Brakes" or ABS, which both would have been VERY sophisticated for year of movie release in 1988. In 2018, These specs would still be considered as a very high end model for any current day manufacturer.
